Rhai Llefydd Arbennig  

Dyma gasgliad o beintiadau, printiadau a lluniadau o lefydd sydd wedi fy hysbrydoli a dal fy sylw ers dechrau fy ngyrfa fel artist. Darnau o dirwedd Cymru yw y rhain- o Ben Llyn I Fynwy ac o ogledd Sir Benfro i’r cymoedd.

Gan fy mod yn disgrifio fy hun fel tirlunydd, ac yn ogystal tirlunydd sy’n ceisio dweud stori, mae’n anghenrheidiol i fentro allan i’r tirwedd er mwyn casglu deunydd gweledol ac yn bwysicach llwytho’r ‘batris’ creadigol.

Nol yn y stiwdio wi’n defnyddio’r brasluniau a’r ffotograffs dw’i wedi cymryd ar y daith a’u datblygu fewn i’r cyfansoddiadau. Cyfansoddiadau sy’n ceisio, nid yn unig disgrifio yr hyn sydd i’w weld ond hefyd y profiad, teimladau ac emosiwn o fod yn y llefydd hynny.

Yn ddigywilydd dw’i wedi ymweld a’r llefydd yma drosodd a throsodd dros y blynyddoedd a cael fy hysbrydoli yn ffres pob tro. Dw’I wedi darganfod ynddynt ffynnon o syniadau sydd byth yn gwaghau – a diolch i’r Tad am hynny.

A Few Special Places

This is a collection of paintings, drawings and prints of specific places that have held my attention and imagination since the beginning of my career as an artist. Sections of landscapes from Pen Llyn to Mynwy and from north Pembrokeshire to the valleys.

I describe myself as a landscape artist that attempts to relate a story. This philosophy insists that I walk the countryside in order to collect visual information and also, at the same time, re-charge creative batteries.

Back in my studio in Cardiff these drawings and photographs are used to develop compositions. Compositions that not only describe what has been observed but also hopefully the emotional experiences of being there.

These places have often been re-visited and re-used over the years. I’m always inspired for the second and third time around with always something new to discover and to inform the viewer.

Wales is a fountain of visual inspiration which hopefully will always keep its fascination and never run dry.
