DESCRIPTION:Iron Maidens II: Made in Wales is a group of female sculptors\, living and working in Wales\, who use cast iron as a medium. The group arose from Iron Maidens\, a group of female sculptors from Wales\, England and the US whose cast iron work toured\, from 2009 to 2014\, in venues in Wales\, England and America over five years. \nThe excitement generated by that project engendered the formation of Iron Maidens II: Made in Wales. This group of Wales-based sculptors is similarly excited by the nature of cast iron as a sculptural medium and wish to show their work to others. DESCRIPTION:*This is an in-person event*\n \nMeadow Management for Pollinators: Walk and Talk with Buglife\n\nThursday 16 June\, 10:00 – 14:00 \n\nCyfarthfa Castle\, Cyfarthfa Park\, Brecon Road\, Merthyr Tydfil\, CF47 8RE \nMeadows and other grasslands are incredibly important for our insects\, they use them for feeding\, breeding\, hibernating\, and shelter. Declines in this habitat are having serious knock-on effects on our insect populations but we can help them by creating more meadows around us. \nJoin us as we explore the diverse insect life found within meadows and discuss how best to manage these habitats for pollinators and other insects. \nPlantlife relies on its members and donors. This event is free but if you would like to donate to support our work you can add an optional donation. SUMMARY:How composers grow an oak from an acorn: a practical workshop
DESCRIPTION:In these workshops we will come up with a simple musical idea\, and then explore ways we can develop this material into a full piece of music. As each workshop will start with a different musical ‘seed’\, we’ll come up with different music and different discussions each time\, so you can join in as few or as many sessions as you like.\n\nWe will also look at how musical ideas are transformed by different instruments\, the ways they are played\, and the ways they produce sound.
